Two officers suspended after eight migrants break out

Two policemen stationed at the precinct of Palaio Faliro, south of Athens, were suspended yesterday after eight detainees escaped from their cells by pulling out the bars of their windows.

SANTIAGO – No one was injured Thursday when a homemade bomb went off in the underground garage at a shopping mall in the Chilean capital, police said.

Three other bombs were found and defused, according to a report from the Carabineros, Chile’s militarized national police.
Left at the scene were leaflets referring to special prosecutor Alejandro Peña’s case against 15 anarchists accused of carrying out more than a score of bombings over the past few years.

Thessaloniki (13.08.10) - A predawn firebomb attack on the Turkish Consulate in Thessaloniki yesterday prompted contact between diplomats in Athens and Ankara, although authorities in the northern Greek city insisted that the Molotov cocktails were thrown at the police guards rather than at the building itself.

Police sources said that three men wearing motorcycle helmets approached the consulate, located on Aghiou Dimitriou Street in the city center, at about 4 a.m. From a distance, they started swearing at the two policemen who were standing guard outside the building.

Residents of a village in the northern Turkey are in a war against the construction of a hydroelectric station on Devrekanı River, saying that ‘the trees in 210,000 square meters of forest will be cut’ and for generating ‘such a small amount of electricity that it will not even meet the need of a shopping mall in Istanbul.’ Villagers in Loç Valley, Kastamonu are calling local authorities to stop the construction.

Following the lead of similar demonstrations throughout the country, villagers in the Loç Valley in Kastamonu are rallying to halt the construction of a dam project in the area they say will make water scarcer and generate little electricity.

Fire and explosions tear through the twice-raided Ylipelto Mink Farm in Oregon

After two successful raids, activists may have once again visited the Ylipelto Mink Farm in Oregon - this time to burn it down.

In the early hours of July 27th, a boat, car, two forklifts, front-end loader, and a barn were all damaged by fire. investigators have not yet ruled it arson, but have noted the farm has been targeted by the Animal Liberation Front in the past.

He is currently  detained in the penitentiary pöschwies/regensdorf near zurich.

The boy, 21, was arrested outside a bowling alley and two hours later, was found hanged in his cell. A demonstration outside the police station ended in chaos: people burned tires and a car and the police cracked down with rubber bullets and tear gas.

Calgary police and fire investigators dodged metal screws fired from a slingshot as they responded to a vandalism spree in Bridgeland early Monday.

The damage began with a vehicle that was parked in the 400 block of First Avenue N.E. being smashed with a hammer and then set on fire, said police on Tuesday.
